Netflix, founded on August 29th, 1997, by Reed Hastings and Mark Randolph. Over the last decade Netflix has grossed over $128 million. I remember the times we would go to Blockbuster to get a movie. I was so young that I had never noticed the quick transition we did from Blockbuster to Netflix.
Netflix has always been in my life, at least one in my family would have an account. That’s how I remember growing up. You see, Netflix is still around until now because it’s always coming out with new features. For example, Netflix Originals have become a huge thing and still is. It was an incredible move on the Netflix’s part. If you look at the most watched Netflix series, they’re all Netflix Original!
The “Stranger Things” release
July of 2016, I remember it now… Drake had just released his album “Views” which I had soon become Grammy nominees. To add on to that joyeuse summer, The Duffer Brothers had blessed everyone with the release of “Stranger Things”. This show became huge! Good job Netflix, as the years went by… Then July 4, 2018… “Stranger Things 3” had released… The day had finally come. Not only did it bring back the nostalgic 80s theme, but it also break some new records for Netflix! According to this tweet form @Netflix, “40.7 million household accounts have been watching the show since its July 4 global launch — more than any other film or series in its first four days. And 18.2 million have already finished the entire season.”
All to say Netflix is doing a great job. Every month, releasing more and more of their own work. I had just watched last night their latest release “Never Have I Ever”. Created by the talented Mindy kaling. Devi, a curious yet romantic girl, trying to survive a year high school is in the mood for love. Although, grief has got the worst of her. After the passing of her father, she has a tough time letting go, but with support of her two best friends and the narration of tennis star John McEnro, she slowly gets through it with some laughs along the way.
After finishing that, I began to explore. Soon I landed on the Netflix’s “I Am Not Okay With This”. Another High school girl, but living a much different life. I’m still in the midst of watching it, so I won’t get into yet. All I can say is that it’s pretty good, very exciting almost like a thriller. It has its light moments though, I recommend it.
Netflix… Keep doing your thing.
