Rising Stars

It’s not a secret that most “big-time” rappers come from the US. Living in Montreal most of my life, I’ve noticed a lot of talented rappers trying to pursue their dream. But can a Montreal Rapper really make it? Canada is getting known for their share of talent. I’m talking about Drake, Tory Lanez, The Weeknd, etc. They all pulling from Toronto though. Is Toronto really where it’s at? Is it though? Montreal needs to expand in EVERYTHING! Toronto has the CN Tower. The fuck do we have? The Bell Centre? No, we do have talented rappers though. I’m telling y’all, as soon as we get a basketball team in the NBA for Montreal, it’s over!

Honestly though, what is it with Montreal talent not being on the map. There’s something about my city that I noticed. We tend to keep ourselves under. We have beautiful areas in Montreal, but “New York or LA will always be better…” Things like that. I think it’s time for Montreal to Introduce more worldwide events and have them here. Give a chance to these people. Wouldn’t you think being bilingual is an advantage for us? There is French rap here, and it has actually become a popular “music genre” I guess. I’m familiar with all the French rappers here like Tizzo, Shreez, White-b. These are some of the people carrying the French rap game now! They all got some hits, but I know the problem… They only make good tracks for 15-16 year olds to bump too.

They need to expand their “beat limits” because it’s sounding all the same. I’m sure there’s a better word for “beat limits” but I’m really blanking right now. As for the English rappers here, my favorites like J-Shrier, Svkif, keamoixo, and moneytree$. These are some talented young rappers, doing their thing, slowly rising. It’s all about knowing what the public want to hear. They need to get on a new flow… If the product is good, it’ll sell.

That’s Montreal rappers y’all.

Peace!
